Donna Catherine Zazo of Alger, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. She was 91 years old. Donna Catherine Langley was born on October 29, 1932, in James Township, Saginaw, Michigan, to the late William and Catherine (Rieger) Langley. Donna attended SS. Peter & Paul High School. She married John Carl Zazo in 1950, creating six beautiful children from that union. Donna worked in various customer service occupations throughout her life, but the role of her lifetime was to be a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Donna was a longtime and former member of St. Dominic Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and volunteered her time and talent preparing meals for funeral luncheons for over 10 years. She enjoyed playing cards, as well as pressing her luck at the casino on both the penny and nickel machines. Donna also enjoyed the peace and tranquility an afternoon drive brought to her life. She was an exceptional cook and baker, always using her secret ingredient “love” to make everything taste amazing. Donna loved and cherished her family, especially attending family gatherings and reunions where she’d make her famous potato salad, drink a beer, play poker, and socializing with everyone. Always full of spunk, she will forever be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, for her unmatched energy and ability to keep in touch with family and friends, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful memories and stories.
Surviving are three children: Thomas Zazo of Alger; James Zazo and his companion, Dee of Saginaw; Brenda Bernard of Seaforth, Ontario, Canada; a daughter-in-law, Debra Zazo of Saginaw; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by three children: Ronald Zazo; Michael Zazo; Linda Emmendorfer; two grandchildren: Sandy Zazo; Mark Bernard; parents, William and Catherine Langley; six siblings: Clayton (Emma) Langley; William (Mary) Langley; Bergetta (Henry) Benkert; Melvin (Martha) Langley; Irene (Henry) Belko; Marion (Frank) Adams.
Honoring Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr.
