Dora "Dee" Filipiak

Beloved mother, “Maa”, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her home, with her family at her side. Age 88 years.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Gutierrez) Ramirez, Dee was born on December 19, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. She retired from Redmon’s after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Dee was a cherished member of Bible Baptist Church, where she exemplified her strong faith and commitment to her community. She was an exceptional mother and devoted caretaker, dedicating her life to nurturing those she held dear. Dee had a profound love for gardening, finding joy in tending to her flowers and spending time outdoors, especially at her “She Shed”. Her interests also included crafts and painting. Dee cherished the holidays, ensuring that family gatherings were filled with warmth and love. She loved her grandchildren, proudly watching them participate in sports and cheering them on with unwavering support. Her life was truly well lived, filled with love and cherished moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Surviving are her sons and daughters, Steven (MaryAnn) Lindsey, JoDee Ramirez, Joe (Helen) Grandy, Darrell Filipiak (Jenny Weir), Marlane Filipiak (Joe Bellmer), Michael (Kari) Filipiak, Filicity (Billy) Wenzel; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Fina Szecsko. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones. Besides her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Ramirez; and her sister, Phyllis Seleski.

Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E. Saginaw St, Merrill, Michigan 48637. Rev. Don Killey will officiate with burial to follow at Lakefield Township Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel on Tuesday.
