Doris E. Hendricks of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Wellspring of Frankenmuth. She was 85 years old. Doris E. Gilman was born on August 29, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Orin and Amelia (Weigandt) Gilman. She was married to Robert Henry Dittenber and later married William V. Hendricks; he preceded her in death on June 14, 1995. She was employed by General Motors as a lineworker, retiring after many years of service. Doris was a faithful member of St. Lukes Ev. Lutheran Church. She was actively involved with Toys for Tots, adopting one family each year. Doris believed every child should have a great Christmas. She enjoyed collecting spoons, plates, dolls and carousels. Above all, Doris loved and cherished her children, especially her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her loving and caring nature.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty L. (Gary) Richards of Saginaw and Debra J. Templeton of Freeland; three grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) Bloniarczyk of Blanchard, Jason Bloniarczyk and his significant other, Amanda Schiefer of St. Charles, and Christopher (Emily) Morse of Saginaw; six great-grandchildren, Makayla, Morgan and Mya Bloniarczyk, Charlie Schiefer, Savannah and Brody Morse; a step-son, William Hendricks and his wife; a special sister-in-law, Lila Boldt of Saginaw; step-grandchildren, Karrie (Scott) Koudelka of Saginaw, Kevin (Dawn) Richards of Chicago, Kimberly (Justin) Back of Colorado Springs, CO and Kenneth Richards of Grand Rapids; two former sons-in-law, Harold Bloniarczyk of Bridgeport and Donald Morse of Saginaw.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Leo Gilman, Maxine Hagle, Donald Gilman and Thelma "Babe" McDonagh.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 4705 Brockway Rd. Pastor Daniel Garbow will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Doris will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimers Association.
