Doris H. Beiser Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Doris Hertz was born July 20, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Frank S. and Alma A. (Dirker) Hertz. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1944 and married Vernard G. Beiser on October 18, 1947; he predeceased her November 27, 2013. Doris worked for Michigan Bell Telephone as an operator until Susan was born. Then along came Rick, Cathy and Mitch. When they were in their teens, she worked part-time for the Saginaw Twp. Police Dept. and Buena Vista Twp. Police as a police secretary. She was then recruited by the Saginaw County Sheriff Department and worked in the Identification Dept. until being asked to serve as a Deputy. This prompted Doris to go to Delta College and get a degree in Law Enforcement. She was then employed by Saginaw County Juvenile Court as a traffic referee and investigator. She finished her career by interviewing adoptions and carrying out court orders for the Probate Judges. Doris and Vern lived their retirement years on Ann St. in Saginaw Township before moving to Wellspring McBrite Manor. They traveled, golfed and above all, served as tellers for Peace Lutheran Church where they were very active members. They advocated for Christian education and encouraged their family to do the same. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Susan and John F. Breen, Jr., Saginaw; Rick and Patti Beiser, Lakeview, Ozarks; Cathy and Dennis Haglund, Saginaw; Mitch and Kimber Beiser, Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, John F. Breen III, USMC, and his wife Juli; Sarah L. Chantaca and her husband Andrew; Jennifer Rossi and her husband Brandon; Katie Beiser, Christopher Beiser, Shannon Etling and Drew Etling; many nieces and nephews and their families; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Marge Beiser, and by two brothers and two sisters, Frank Hertz, Jr., Marie Bartlett, Lorraine Abram and Donald Hertz. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Avenue. Rev. C. William Weis will officiate. Private committal services will take place later at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw, Rd. from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday and then at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
