Gibbons, Doris L. Wisconsin formerly of Saginaw The earthly journey of Doris Gibbons began on October 9, 1920, when Otto and Emma (Bottke) Miller rejoiced with the gift of a daughter. Doris was born again on Reformation Day, October 31, 1920, through washing of water and the Word in Holy Baptism. She renewed those vows later through the rite of confirmation. Doris grew up attending Saginaw schools, graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1938. She worked at various jobs including Second National Bank where she met the lover of her life, Everett Gibbons. They married on February 12, 1944. God gave them almost fifty years of marriage together, calling Everett to his eternal home on June 7, 1990. God blessed them with two children, a son Gregory and a daughter Pamela. Doris was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saginaw and a former member of the Germania Club and Saginaw Club. Doris' health began to decline over the last decade. She moved from Saginaw to Wisconsin to be closer to her daughter. She took her last earthly breath May 21, 2013, as the Lord Jesus called her to her eternal home in heaven. Those near to her whose earthy journey continues are her son Rev. Gregory (Susan) and daughter Pamela (Rev. Mark) Toepel; seven grandchildren, Jason (Rebecca) Toepel, Jamison Toepel, Stephanie (Jason) Wakefield, Michael, Naomi, Matthew and Christopher Gibbons; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Memorial can be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Memorial services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
