Doris Ann (Davenport) Robinson
Saginaw, MI
Doris was peacefully called to the Lord, surrounded by her family on November 20th, 2023. She was born in Zilwaukee, MI on December 11th, 1946 to the late Halbert “Chick” and Marguerite (Spencer) Davenport. Doris graduated from St. Andrew’s High School in 1965, where she met the love of her life, Grant (Marty) Robinson. They both agree that she fell in love from the first moment he saw her and said, “Hey you.” They were married April 30th, 1966, and shortly after began building their family. Doris was the quintessential matriarch, and loved her family with every fiber of her being. She was selflessness personified, and went above and beyond to care for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her southern hospitality welcomed all into her home for a meal and hot cup of coffee. A devout Catholic, even on her darkest days, Doris continued her nightly novena and prayer for others.
Doris is survived by her husband of 57 years, Grant Robinson; four children, Amy (Brad) Schwanbeck, Brian (Jodi Dalton) Robinson, Daina (Rod) Diefenbach, Ashley (Chad) Helmer, all of Saginaw, MI; ten grandchildren, Haley (Michael) Miller, Peyton Schwanbeck, Jalyn and Ashlyn Saxton, Eric Dalton, Owen and Greer Diefenbach, and Finn, Hudson, and Tilly Helmer; two great-grandchildren, Adria Joyner, and Isla Miller, sisters-in-law, Suzanne Robinson, Diane (Michael) Barnes, Jeannie Robinson, Janice (Janette) Robinson, Rosalie Davenport, and Lorraine Davenport. Many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Maryann Alfano.
She is preceded by many loved ones, including her father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Bette Jean Robinson, sisters-in-law Maria Beth Robinson and Karen Cherry. As the baby of her family, she has been waiting many years to see her mother and father, and will now also be reunited with brothers Halbert “Jack” Davenport, Michael Davenport, John Davenport, and sister Susan Cryblskey.
We are heartbroken with grief, but overcome with joy knowing that she was welcomed into Heaven with a hot cup of coffee and so much love and laughter. Doris and her family want to thank the many doctors, nurses, and staff at University of Michigan Hospital for their unwavering compassion, care, and advocacy in recent months. They would also like to thank The Care Team Hospice Group for their comfort and care in Doris’ final days.
