Our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
The daughter of the late Floyd A. and Leona Marie (Neuman) Slippy was born on May 18, 1931 in Saginaw. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, the class of 1949. She married Homer Richard Rankin in 1954; he predeceased her on July 27, 1979. Dorothy worked for the railroad then later as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Francis De Sales Parish and the Saginaires Drum and Bugle Corps. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, bird watching and her card club with friends as well as spending time with her family at her cottage on the Muskegon River.
Surviving are her children: Christine A. Heilig, Catherine A. Mochen, Cheryl A. Mihalko, Cynthia A. (Bradley) Tanner, grandchildren: Sandra (Jason) Snelenberger, Samantha Hervert, Sabrina Bell, Stephanie (Daniel) Weigandt, Stacey Heilig, Jennifer (Joshua) Wesolek, Jason Blasch, Melissa (Jacob) Lynch, Benjamin (Kelsey) Mihalko, Emily (Steven) Hahn, Kyle Tanner, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and her close cousin Alice Pollick. Besides her husband and her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by three son-in-laws: William Heilig, Joseph Mochen, Anthony Mihalko, and her close cousin, Sally Pollick.
