Dorothy Adeline Bell, beloved wife of 53 years of the late Charles Bell, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2019 following a brief struggle with a stroke. She celebrated her 99th birthday on May 8th!
She was born to Daisy Bricker and Wilford Bricker. She was an only child. Dorothy was a lifelong Saginaw resident.
She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and attended Central Michigan University, but was called home upon the illness of her mother.
Dorothy worked for Lufkin Rule where she met her husband Charles Bell. They were married on September 11, 1948. Charles Bell passed away in 2001 at the age of 82, after retiring as the CEO of Monitor Sugar Company, Bay City, MI.
Dorothy had a lifetime passion for gardening, knitting and cross stitch. She was an active volunteer at the First United Methodist Church of Saginaw, where she was the longest living member since 1930.
Dorothy loved the Spartans! She watched every Michigan State football and basketball game each season. She felt invested in MSU as Charles and her three children graduated from the university.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and considered her children her greatest accomplishment. She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey (Kathy) Bell of Frankfort Mi., Marcia Bell of New York City, and Laurie (Mark) Bell Sullivan of Bethesda, MD. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dorothy Adeline Bell will take place at 11:00am on Monday May 13, 2019 at W.L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Pastor Bill Bodnar will officiate. A private family burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until the time of the service Monday. In lieu of flowers please those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Old Town Christian Outreach Center, Saginaw MI.
