Dorothy Irene Clapp Merrill, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Kindy Adult Care Home. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Fred and Hattie (Wenzel) Smith was born February 7, 1925 in Saginaw, County, Michigan. She married Albert Clapp, February 7, 1947. He passed away July 13, 1981. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock, enjoyed gardening, canning and work on the farm. Surviving are four children and their spouses, Dwight Clapp; Tom and Kathy Clapp; Nancy and Marty Benaway; Carol and Bob Eggebrecht; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda Clapp; Kelsey Clapp; Kyle and Stacy Clapp; Jarad Clapp; Jeremy and Kara Fleminger; Kassandra and Jason Corwin; Molly Fleminger; Jarrett Benaway; Whitney and Jacob Ellison; Sarah and Cody Hildebrant; Ryan Eggebrecht; 11 great grandchildren, Sidney Shephard; Braxton Clapp; Bayleigh Clapp; Allie Corwin; Natalie Corwin; Isaac Fleminger; Brinley Fleminger Khaner Fleminger; Serenity Ellison; Jackson Ellison; Maddison Hildebrant; three sisters, Helen Clapp; Linda Wade; Ann Drbul; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Elmer and Alfred Smith have predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate with burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Friends may call at the Chapel from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday.
