Millard, Dorothy J. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away early Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, at the age of 89 years. Dorothy J. West was born September 20, 1926, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of the late Norma M. (Bradley) and Benjamin E. West. She had been employed by Mueller Brass Company and later worked for Swan Valley High School in the lunch room. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, volunteered with its funeral lunch program, youth programs and its quilting group. She was an accomplished quilt maker and enjoyed crocheting. She was an avid traveler. She especially enjoyed being a mom and grandma. She married Donald B. Millard on October 28, 1950; he predeceased her one month ago on June 1, 2016. Surviving are their son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patti Millard, Merrill; grandson, William and his wife Kelli Wenzel, and their son, William "Billy" Wenzel; several nieces, nephews and their families; special friends, Helene Wiltse, Brian and Marga Ludlum, Jerry and Liz Losee, and Lynn Redmond. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Elmer West, killed in action in World War II, and by a sister, Helen Charles. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Road. Rev. Amy Terhune will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 4:00 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
