Dorothy Lucille Scharrer of Hemlock, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Pine Have Assisted Senior Living. She was 92 years old. Dorothy Lucille Schultz was born on May 23, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Carl A. and Ella M. (Burk) Schultz. She was a proud graduate of St. Charles High School and Saginaw General Nursing School. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Leonard Louis Scharrer, and they were united in marriage on March 31, 1951; he preceded her in death on August 10, 2005. Dorothy was an extraordinary Registered Nurse working for Saginaw General Hospital, Sunset Valley Nursing Home in Bridgeport, and also cared for the elderly with in-home care services. The role of her lifetime was to be a loving and dedicated farm wife, mother, and grandmother. Dorothy was a lifelong and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock and volunteered her time with the Altar Guild and Ladies Aide. Her little piece of heaven was spending time gardening, journaling, and being with her family. She will forever be remembered for her warm smile, finding goodness and the silver lining in all people, and for living a faith filled life with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are three children and their spouses: Rev. Paul (Kathyrn) Scharrer of Fort Atkinson, WI; David (Krista) Scharrer of Hemlock; and Diane (Gaylord) Mitchell of Saginaw; 14 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Tuck of Essexville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents: Carl and Ella Schultz; and two brothers: Floyd and Alvin Schultz.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Pine Haven Assisted Senior Living in Hemlock for all the love and care they provided to Dorothy and the entire family.
