Dorthey Pauline (Strong) Tank

Loving wife, mother, family member and friend to all who knew her is finally out of pain and entered eternal peace on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the age of 95 years.

Dorthey was born on November 12, 1927 in Gladwin to the late Sidney and Anna (Slaybaugh) Strong.  She graduated from Merrill High School the class of 1945.  Dorthey then went to work for the Grey Iron Foundry where she met the love of her life, Elwyn F. “Al” Tank.  She married Elwyn F. “Al” Tank on May 8, 1952; he predeceased her on June 7, 2015 after 63 years of marriage.  Dorthey also worked as a school bus driver for Frankenmuth Public Schools, retiring after over 14 years of service.  She was an active member of Bridgeport Community Church, member of the ladies auxiliary of American Legion Post #439.   Dorthey and Al enjoyed traveling to da UP and Lake Superior.  Dorthey was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed gardening.  She cherished her time spent with family and friends.

Surviving are her children: Gail Tank, Lori (Kim) Matzke, Sandy Tank Paten and her special friend Dan; her son-in-law Neil Miller; her grandchildren: Chadwick (Breck) Paten, Dannielle (Romain) Paten; four great-grandsons: Cole, Carson, Bryson and Oakley; a step-granddaughter Tanya (Myles) Benton; a step-grandson Randy (Brenda) Matzke and their children Madison, Sarah, Autumn, Taylor, Megan and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Besides her parents and husband, Dorthey was predeceased by her daughter Pam Miller, her brothers: Robert (Arlene) Strong, Sidney (Barbara) Strong and her sisters Rose Strong and Annabelle (Lyle) Rigg.
