Bushey, Duane A. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away at his residence early Saturday, February 23, 2013. Age 86 years. Duane A. Bushey was born November 15, 1926, in Saginaw to the late Morse L. and Leona (Klopf) Bushey. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, returning to Saginaw in 1947 and joined Bushey Radiator & Auto Glass where he worked for his entire life. He purchased the business from the family in 1977 and sold it to his grandson Justin Stuart in 2012. Duane married his longtime sweetheart Virginia Marie Parker on September 4, 1948. She survives him. Duane was active in many business and civic associations over the years, including the Saginaw Country Club, the Saginaw Country Club Golden Tees, the Saginaw Club, the Fordney Club, the Germania Club, the Honest John Birthday Club, and the Sons of Italy Sacre Famiglia Lodge. He was a 32nd degree mason and belonged to Saginaw Lodge 77 F&AM, the Bay City Consistory, Elf Khurafeh Club, and St. Bernard Commandery. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Juno Beach, Florida. Duane was one of only 4 individuals nationwide in the National Automotive Radiator Service Hall of Fame.
In addition to his spouse, Duane is survived by two children: Ricki Susan Bushey Stuart and Robert Morse (Cheryl) Bushey; two grandchildren, Justin Stuart and Danielle Bushey; two step-grandchildren, Amy Brookman and Brandon Spear; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Stuart, Olivia Stuart, Julia Stuart, and Gwenivere Miller; two step, great-grandchildren, Kylie Spear and Arielle Spear; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters: Janice Walz and Kay Moore. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Bushey; a sister, Sue Luxton; and a grandson, Brandon Stuart.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2012, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway. Rev. Kathleen Basner will officiate with entombment at Chapel Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum. Friends may call at the W. L. Case Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw, on Tuesday from noon until 7:00 p.m. and at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
