Duane H. Millar of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away at his home on Thursday, September 19, 2019, with his family by his side. He was 81 years old. Duane Howard Millar was born on January 9, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Howard and Mary (Roenicke) Millar. He was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School. Following graduation, Duane began working for General Motors, serving over 40 years as a millwright before his retirement. He married the love of his life, Laura J. Wise on November 17, 1986 in Saginaw; she survives him. Duane enjoyed both working in his yard, and spending time with his wife Laura remodeling and redesigning their beautiful home. He was a supporter of the Republican Party and actively participated in politics. Duane and Laura also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Above all, he loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, always remaining even-tempered in all situations, and for his kindness to all he loved.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Laura J. Millar of Saginaw; children: Michael (Jan) Millar of Millington; Karen (Michael) Witkowski of Saginaw; Jeanie (Edward) Kuebler of TX; Scott Church of Joplin, MO; Melburn (Laura) Church of Midland; sister, Joann Hartman of Carrollton. Also surviving are many treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by a son, Dale Jurish; daughter, Laura Miller; four sisters, Doris Howard, Patricia Dashkovitz, Virginia Chaltraw, and Elaine Millar Robson Fitzpatrick.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
