Dwight L. Chisholm Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Covenant-Cooper. Age 80 years. The son of the late Hugh Stanley and Hazel (Roux) Chisholm was born August 3, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Diane J. Smith, September 4, 1955. She survives him. Dwight was a graduate of Alma High School, received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Ferris Institute and his Master's degree from Central Michigan University in 1964. He began his career with the Pinconning Schools as a Teacher and Assistant Superintendent. He later came to the Saginaw Public Schools where he taught at North School, Arthur Hill High School, and from 1972 until his retirement in 1994 at the Averill Career Opportunity Center. He was a mentor in the Saginaw Public Schools reading program and was a member and past president of the Saginaw County Association of Retired School Personnel. He was an active member of State Street United Methodist Church where he participated in the Bible School, camp, music programs and was VBS photographer. He was a member of the Riverside Kiwanis, Saginaw Lodge # 77 F & AM and a charter member of the Tri-City Carvers Club. Dwight served with the Michigan National Guard and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and bowling. He was a sports fan and wrote music but most of all enjoyed teaching and children. Surviving besides his wife, Diane, are three children and their spouses, Devin and Yvette Chisholm, Standish, MI; Derek and Bobbi Chisholm, Virginia; Darci and Skip Hillert, Saginaw, MI; 16 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Teresa Chisholm; Adam and Diane Chisholm; Hannah and Collins Kamau; Micah and Stephanie Chisholm; Eva-Elizabeth Chisholm; Keturah-Grace and Alex Johnson; Matthew and Rachel Chisholm; Madison and Drew Goodrich; Chloe and Jacob Golom; Staci, Tracey, Max, Alex and Gannon; Sara and Emily Hillert; his great grandchildren, John, James, Luke, Maria, Isaac, Lily, Peter, Ella, Ian, Miriam, Joel, Willow, Ellie, Cashion, Gunnar, Jamieson; his sisters, Georgiana Safford and Hazel Schwarck; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, Edwin Chisholm, Judy Marti and Onieta Hammel. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015, at State Street United Methodist Church, 3617 Mackinaw at State St. Saginaw. Rev. Elias Mumbiro will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
