Earl went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was 88 years old. Earl was born February 9, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Helen (Shultz) Frederick. He married the love of his life Lorene Kelly on August 25, 1956, who predeceased him. A testament of true love, they were happily married for 62 years that were filled with joy and companionship, Earl’s devotion to God has been ongoing and unwavering. Through thick and thin, Earl served God with a faithful heart. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Eagles Club. After Earl’s retirement from General Motors, they enjoyed traveling and seeing the country in their fifth wheel trailer. Earl had a deep love for golf and played year-round, but more than the game itself he cherished the camaraderie of those he played with. A true people person, Earl never met a stranger, he had a natural way of connecting with others, making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Earl lived his life with a positive mindset and a knack for keeping everyone around him laughing. His sense of humor and lighthearted nature brought joy to those who knew him. He had a passion for woodworking, blooper ball, camping, bowling, and fixing anything that was broken especially for his children. A devoted father, Earl never hesitated when called upon and always made it a priority to check in on his loved ones. His unwavering support and deep love for his family were the foundation of his life. Earl was a man of integrity, always honest and ethical in his actions. He led by example, serving as a role model for all who had the privilege of knowing him. His was a life well lived, and Earl was deeply loved. Though he will be missed beyond measure, his legacy of laughter, kindness and steadfast devotion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Surviving to cherish his memory are three daughters and two sons. Tina (David) Young, Tammy (Dave) Laza, Tracy (Mike) Gannotti, Earl (Bud) Frederick Jr. and Gary Frederick, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren (4 more due this year), his sister Leah Moreau and brother-in-law Del Moreau, his sister-in-law Kathy Kelly, sister-in-law Pat Kelly and brother-in-law Dan Kelly, sister-in-law Penny O’Connor and brother-in-law Ken O’Connor, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and life-long friends. He was predeceased by his brothers John Frederick and Bobby Frederick, and brother-in-law Raymond Kelly Jr.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated for Earl at 11:00 a.m. Friday , March 14, 2025 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. William J. Rutkowski will officiate with burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., where friends will gather for a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also vist at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
