Earl Charles Rumpel II

Earl Charles Rumpel II, left his earthly body on May 27, 2023. We will remember him for his big heart, sweet sense of humor, love for music, beautiful vocal talent, and introverted nature. In high school, Earl was on the swim team and was a talented singer in his band, “Earl and the Dukes”. After graduating from Saginaw High School in 1970, he followed in his brother Rocky’s footsteps and joined the “Chessie System” Railroad where he spent the entirety of his career. Earl continued to sing throughout his life, whether on a stage with old friends, in the car, or around the house. Earl’s later life was simple, finding happiness in a phone call with his children, listening to music with a fine scotch in hand, or enjoying a Sunday game with his dear friend. Earl was a loving brother, proud father and grandfather, and best friend.

He is survived by three daughters: Holly Rumpel, Erica (Mark) Lerro, and Sarah (Craig) Searles; one granddaughter, Aria Lerro; his two brothers: Rocky (Claudette) Rumpel and Chad (Cindy) Rumpel; sister-in-law, Diane Rumpel; a special niece, Kourtney (Jim) Garno; several nephews; and his best friend, Roger Dinniger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl (Helen) Rumpel, brothers: Terry Rumpel and Brian Rumpel; and one grandson, Bryan Tingstad.

Honoring Earl’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Holy Spirt Catholic Church 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with burial to follow. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
