Edward G. McGarry

McGarry, Edward George of Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home at the age of 81. Edward George McGarry was born on September 22, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late James and Dorothy (Hardy) McGarry. He proudly served his country with the United States Army, in Japan, following the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Violet Claire Lietz on September 28, 1957; she survives him. Edward was a lifelong AAA employee, retiring after 35 years of service as a claims manager. Following retirement, Edward began volunteering his time at the Castle Museum, Antique Society of Saginaw and with Saginaw Pride for over 18 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and loved his cheering for his favorite Michigan teams: the Tigers, Lions and Redwings. Above all he loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. Edward will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, and his love, compassion and his selflessness to his family. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Violet C. McGarry of Saginaw; one son, David (Robin) McGarry of West Chester, PA; three daughters: Diane Solecki of Troy, Karen (John Noble) McGarry of Cincinnati, OH and Marcy (Janus) Kober of Maple Falls, WA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter. Also surviving are many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Katherine McGarry, a daughter-in-law, Lois McGarry; an infant granddaughter, Grace McGarry; his parents and two sisters. Honoring Edwards wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Castle Museum.
