Edward H. "Fast Ed" Kurth

Edward H. "Fast Ed" Kurth Saginaw, Michigan Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on August 7, 2017, at the age of 73 years. Ed was born December 14, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward and Marjorie (Moiles) Kurth. He departed as the Captain of his "ship", the SS Hurona, at his lake house at Point Lookout in AuGres, Michigan. Ed was owner and co-founder of Bay Music. He was a professional musician and mentor to Tri-City musicians. He played in multiple bands as a bass and guitar player. He was a member of Saginaw Northwest Kiwanis and took pride in the being the Sergeant-at-arms. Ed enjoyed his summers at the Point entertaining friends with his guitar. He enjoyed wintering in Dunedin, Florida where he was the entertainment director for his retirement community. He had an amazing sense of humor and a way with words. He was the proverbial "do-it-yourselfer" and looked forward each day to keeping himself busy with his multiple projects. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Park) Kurth; children, Kristine (Greg) Grover, Robert (Rene) Kurth, and Edward (Holly) Kurth; grandchildren, Hailey and Andrew Grover and Rachael and Edward Kurth; siblings, Michael (Kathy) Kurth and Jean Kurth; his nephew that was like a son, James Kurth; and many extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saginaw Northwest Kiwanis or to Gift of Life Michigan.
