Edward Lawrence Kennedy, Sr.

Kennedy, Edward Lawrence, Sr. Saginaw, MI Passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre, age 81 years. Edward was born in Saginaw, Michigan June 1, 1932 the son of the late Henry and Edith (Leach) Kennedy. He married Shirley Dowis March 16, 1953. She predeceased him April 15, 2006. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Edward enjoyed watching hockey and baseball and playing pool and Euchre. Edward is survived by four children, Linda (Michael) Godard, Edward (Cheryl) Kennedy, Jr., William (Shelly) Kennedy and Keith (Giselle) Kennedy; 20 grandchildren and their spouses; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Vern, Tom, Ellen and Paul; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Edward was predeceased by two sisters, Betty and Jean. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 612 N. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. Ron Wagner will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens where military services will take place under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Sunday from 3:00 9:00 p.m. and at church Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service.
