Edward Mattheis Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Masonic Pathways, Alma. Age 89 years. The son of the late Gottleib and Dorothy (Schleicher) Mattheis was born November 10, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Elaine Cleveland, November 13, 1943. She passed away September 28, 2002. Edward served with the U. S. Army during WWII under General George Patton's Army. He had been self-employed in Electrical Contracting and retired from General Motors and was a member of the U.A.W. He was a member of Bridgeport Community Church, the Saginaw Salina-Pioneer Lodge # 79 F the Elf Khurefeh Shrine; the Bay City Consistory and 32 degree Masons. He was one of the first HAM radio operators in the Saginaw area. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and golf. Surviving are 5 children and their spouses, Edward C. and Jennifer Mattheis; Arnold and Kathy Mattheis; Dannie and Bonnie Mattheis; Gayle and David Giltrop; Dorothy Sullivan; fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Pendell, Betty Mattheis; a brother-in-law, James Boyd; several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by granddaughter and a sister and brother, Dorothy Boyd and Henry Mattheis. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Ronald L. Sinclair will officiate with Military burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at the chapel from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Monday where the Saginaw Masonic Lodge # 79 will conduct a memorial service.
