Edwin Donald Leaman Freeland, Michigan Passed away at his home Saturday, December 10, 2016. Age 91 years. The son of the late Sophia (Hawkins) and Eddie Leaman was born October 14, 1925 in Freeland, Michigan. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Pacific Front. He married Imogene Ewald, September 12, 1947. His wife of 52 years passed away February 9, 2000. Later Edwin married Joan (Rapin) Voise, June 28, 2002. She survives him. Edwin began his life as a farmer and later sold his land to the Bintz family, now known as Apple Mountain Resort. Edwin stared a contracting business with Robert Hall in 1954. He developed Sonora Drive Subdivision. As years progressed they incorporated as Hall and Leaman, Inc. in 1963. Edwin retired in 2001, celebrating over 50 years in the building industry. Edwin was never complacent, even after retirement, he had an extensive garden, kept working on odd jobs and small woodworking projects until his health demanded otherwise. He was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the V.F.W. Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Janet and Preston Davies; Karen Aleck; Lori and Kurt Krueger; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Richard Miller; Kimberly and Randy Schnieder; Robert and Angie Lederer; Scott Trombly; Kelsey Krueger; Katherine Krueger and Jill Yanna; 9 great grandchildren, Richard Miller, Anthony Miller, Joshua Schnieder, Breana Schnieder, Robert Lederer, Ethan Lederer, Ashliegh Lederer, Nicholas Trombly, Kelly Glazier, Danielle Yanna; four great great grandchildren, Elexis, Kensington, Averee Alexander and soon to be, Charlotte; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Catherine Beamish and Dorothy Hileman have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with Military burial in Owen Cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. post # 1859. Friends may call at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Wounded Warriors.
