Eileen Francis Kessler Hemlock, Michigan A devoted wife of over 62 years, mother of nine children, and grandmother of 100+ passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Hazel Findlay Country Manor, St. John's Michigan. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Story) James was born December 30, 1924 in Boston, MA. She married John Joseph (Joe) Kessler, April 9, 1945. They met on a blind date while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He passed away October 9, 2007. Together they co-owned Kessler's Market for many years. She was employed by the Government during WWII. Eileen was a longtime member of St. John XXII Parish (St. Mary-Hemlock). Eileen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, fishing, telling a good joke; reading, traveling, playing bingo and gambling. She and her husband participated in the Scotch Picnic and were named a king and queen. Surviving are nine children and their spouses, Diana and Stephen James Horny; Barbara (Reed) and Burke Halldorson; Joseph and Connie Kessler; Gregory F. Kessler; Mary and Ed Beebe; Robert Kessler; Michael and Mary Kessler; Kathryn and James Wulff; Jack and Shelly Kessler; more than 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Walsh; Ollie Connely; a sister-in-law, Bonnie (Feuerstein) Koger; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Terry Reed Jr; a son-in-law, Terry Reed Sr; three brothers, Warren, Roy and Robert James; two sisters, Clare LaPointe and Stella Sawacki. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014, at St. John XXII (St. Mary Church) 151 St. Mary's Drive. Hemlock. Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
