Merriam, Elaine M. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at St. Francis Home, at the age of 86 years. Elaine was born August 23, 1928, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Florence (Vicary) and Carl F. Seehase. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and later received an Associate Degree from Delta College. She had been employed as a social worker for Saginaw County Child Development. She enjoyed gardening and was formerly a member of the Saginaw Rose Society. She married William J. Merriam on August 10, 1985; he survives her. She also leaves one daughter, Wendy Rupp, Canton, Michigan; one son, Brian Rule, National City, Michigan; one step-son, Robert Merriam, Saginaw. A daughter, Cindy Patton, predeceased her. She also leaves a son-in-law, Darrel Patton; nine grandchildren, Grayson and Elizabeth Rupp, Daniel, Scott, Austin, and Ambrosia Rule; Nathan, Joshua and Megan Patton; two great-granddaughters; a brother-in-law, Allen and Patricia Merriam, Sterling, Michigan; a niece, Suzan and William Preuss, Hemlock, Michigan, and their family. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Ann Marie Rule, a sister, Donna Arft, and former husband, Zed J. Rule. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
