Elias D. “Lee” Gonzalez
Saginaw, Michigan
Our loving father, grandfather and brother passed away Monday March 8, 2021 at home at the age of 80 years. The son of the late Elias C. and Romana (Deleon) Gonzalez, Elias was born September 21, 1940, in Beale, MI. He married Gloria Quiroz on June 1, 1979; she predeceased him on April 7, 2018. Lee retired from Saginaw Steering Gear following many years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2291 in Merrill and St. Andrew Catholic Church. Lee was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a chairperson on the Saginaw Special Needs Bowling League. He also enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
Surviving are his Children; Michael John Molina; David B. (Sylvia) Gonzalez, Daniel B. (Yolanda) Gonzalez, Adam B. (Carmen) Gonzalez and Anthony B. Gonzalez; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; two brothers; Arthur (Vicki) Gonzalez and Richard (Debbie) Gonzalez; six sisters; Elodia Velez, Mary Salas, Yolanda Noriega, Orelia Torrez, Theresa (Jeff) Landosky and Irene Otriz; many nieces and nephews, a special friend, the mother of his children, Rachel Castaneda and a sister-in-law, Gloria Gonzalez.
He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Gonzalez.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 N. 6th Ave, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris, O.F.M. Cap. will officiate with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Merrill, Michigan. Funeral liturgy will be live-streamed by St. Joseph Church. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 2-8 pm at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, with rosary being led by the Knights of Columbus at 7 pm.
In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor capacity is limited to 25 persons, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged.
