Elida S. "Lilly" Ornelas

A beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on April 13, 2024. She was born on September 24, 1934, in Texas, to the late Marcello and Locadia SanMiguel. Elida will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.
 
In her professional life, Lilly enjoyed her time while employed at the Saginaw Country Club.  Beyond her career, Lilly's true passion lay in her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. Family meant everything to her, especially her children: Orlando R. Ornelas, Hector M. (Diana) Ornelas, Rudy R. Ornelas Jr., Marlisa (Steve) Brindley, Florinda “Flo” (Bob) Clark. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart: Nick Casella, Julie C. Ornelas, Robert Clark, Samantha Clark, Angelena Brindley. Lilly's love knew no bounds as she delighted in cooking for them and sharing memorable trips to the casino and enjoying scratch-off lottery tickets - always ensuring that any winnings were thoughtfully shared among her beloved grandchildren.  She was also survived by ; many nieces, nephews; relatives; and numerous friends whose lives she touched with her generous spirit.
 
In addition to her immediate family members who have preceded her in death, Lilly is predeceased by a large extended family including her brothers and sisters and daughter-in-law Mary Jane Ornelas.
 
Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merrill.  Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 Saginaw St. In Merrill on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
