Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Manzoni of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was 73 years old. Elizabeth Jean Manzoni was born on June 15, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Alex and Jeanne (Fuller) Manzoni DVM. She was a proud 1969 graduate of Hemlock High School. Following graduation, Betty attended Delta College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Airline Clerical Hosting. In 1974, she began working as a receptionist with her father and brother at Village Veterinary Clinic in Hemlock, retiring in 2012 after 38 years of loyal and dedicated service. Betty was a lifelong and faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church. She was kind and thoughtful, making sure to send all her family members and friends’ cards for every holiday. Betty also enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and displaying them throughout her home. Above all, what she loved the most was attending family gatherings.

Surviving are two sisters and a brother: Mary Ann (Thomas) Ling of Hemlock; Terese M. (Dr. Donald J.) Wurtzel of Saline; A. Michael Manzoni DVM of Hemlock; an aunt, Darlene Fuller of Hemlock. Also surviving are four nephews and three nieces whom she loved dearly; 11 cherished great-nieces and great-nephews; many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Jeanne Manzoni; a brother, Thomas M. Manzoni; and an exchange student sister, Maria Luisa Tapinassi.

A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. John XXII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 Saint Marys Drive, Hemlock, MI 48626. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp S.J. will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609 on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Betty will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
