Salmer, Elizabeth J. Darling "Betty" Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Covenant Cooper at the age of 85 years. Elizabeth Darling was born January 19, 1929, in Saginaw County, the daughter of the late Caroline (Bruse) and Alvin Darling Sr. After graduating from Hemlock High School, Betty pursued a career in nursing. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1950. She worked several years for Dr. Ling and Dr. Briggs in Hemlock and finished her career as a labor and delivery nurse at Gratiot Community Hospital, where she proudly helped deliver her two oldest granddaughters, Tera and Stacey. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching, and reading. Betty was a sweet and caring lady with a beautiful smile, always making everyone feel welcome. She married George S. Salmer on August 5, 1950, in Hemlock; he survives her. She also leaves her children, George (Cheryl) Salmer and Joy Spadafore; grandchildren, Tera Parker and fianc Ian Pilak, Stacey (Chris) Brown, Stephanie Salmer, Jenny (CJ) Phillips, and Tammy Spadafore; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Jessica and Tyler Phillips; Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where her family will receive friends from 2:00 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and then on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jim Young will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
