Elsie Katherine Tanney of Brant, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend received her wings on Sunday, December 19, 2021, and now is with the Lord and her family. She passed with her family by her side at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. Elsie Katherine Stanley was born on May 17, 1946, in Dickenson County, Virginia, to the late Wiley T. and Frances (Fleming) Stanley. She married Rollin C. Tanney on July 10, 1976, in St. Charles; he survives her. Elsie loved her Lord and was a faithful member of Old Town Christian Outreach. She was gifted in creating crafts, especially designing cards. Elsie also enjoyed tending to her garden and traveling. Elsie had the innate ability to connect with all people and became a motherly figured to many. She was a selfless caregiver, had a heart of gold, and would often work with and help the underprivileged. Above all, Elsie treasured and cherished her time with family in both Michigan and Viriginia.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Rollin C. Tanney; son: Mitchell Moore of Brant; daughter, Angela Moore of St. Charles; special niece, Ingrid and girls; granddaughter, Amanda (Dana) Moore, grandson, Randall (Lindsey) Moore, granddaughter, Debbie (Lisa) Cherry, grandson, Dale (Tami) Foreman and four step-sons: Mitch (Debbie) Tanney of St. Charles; Rick Tanney of Saginaw; Steve (Susie) Tanney of St. Charles; Dave (Debbie) Tanney of Hale; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a special great-grandson, Alex; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister all of Clintwood, VA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Randall Clark; brother, Erwin Stanley.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Donald Dinninger will officiate. Burial will take place at Fleming Large Cemetery in Clintwood, Virginia. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the CS Mott Children's Hospital or Old Town Christian Outreach.
