Elvira R. Saucedo “Irene”

Detroit, Michigan

Formerly of Saginaw

Our beloved sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully following a long illness on Tuesday, March 05, 2024. Age 77 years. She was Born on July 22, 1947 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Hilario and Galdina (Reyes) Ortiz.

Irene was the owner and operator of a catering service. She was an awesome cook, with every dish being just as tasty as the last. Baking was her thing! Irene created the most beautiful wedding and birthday cakes for her family. She loved to sew and was always dependable when the family needed clothing altered. With no hesitation she would be happy to do it. She enjoyed going fishing and camping and most of all traveling. The greatest memory of her will be that she had a heart of gold and saw the good in everyone. She was very special to our family.

Irene was adopted into our family when she was a little girl. Making her the youngest of the girls in the family. She had four sisters, Guadalupe Ortiz-Rodriguez, Margarita (Stephen) Ortiz-Miller, Easter Delgado; three brothers, Hilario Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz and Paul Ortiz; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and special friends that she could count on for anything, Doris Allen, Stephanie Brodie, Magalene (Maggie) Holmes, Andy Martin, Dee Martin, and Mary her neighbor. Irene was predeceased by her very special nephew, Micheal A. Rodriguez, with whom she had a close bond.

She Loved God and life that He gave her. “Although It’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help confront you tomorrow.”

From the friends of Irene in memory of her precious life.

We remember our dear friend in this solemn hour.

We remember the days when you lived on this earth, and your tender love and caring was shared with us like a guardian angel. You are gone from us, but the bond that unites our souls can never be broken. Your image lives within our hearts. May the merciful Father reward you for the faithfulness and kindness you have shown us. May God lift up the light of His countenance upon you, and grant you eternal peace. Amen
