Emma Sullivan Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Meadowview Manor. Age 94 years. The daughter of the late Ida (Buchholz) and Edward Hillert was born May 5, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1940. She joined the U.S. Navy WAVES, serving mostly in Washington D.C. from 1942 through 1944. Upon her discharge, she was employed as Secretary to the Chief of Staff at the Aleda Lutz Veteran's Adm. Medical Center in Saginaw until her retirement in 1978. Emma married Jack Morris Sullivan, July 31, 1953. He passed away April 7, 2001. Emma and Jack enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers in Michigan. Emma was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Luella Hillert and Lillian (Billie) Sullivan; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Emma was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers, Natalie (Henry) Petzoid; Acadia (Willie) Acklin; Ida (Ira) Jewell; Rudy Hillert; Edward (Marie) Hillert and Wanda Hillert. In accordance with Emma's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Rd. Saginaw, MI. 48609. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate. Friends may call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the memorial service.
