Eric Philip Lentner of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Union Court Assisted Living in Chesaning. He was 76 years old. Eric Philip Lentner was born on November 13, 1945, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Earl and Bernice (Spero) Lentner Sr. He was a proud 1963 graduate of Chesaning High School. Following graduation, Eric attended Delta College and then graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He met the love of his life, Linda Luckett, during his freshman year at Delta College. They were united in marriage on April 22, 1967, in Saginaw; she survives him. Eric worked as a math teacher at Freeland Junior and Senior High Schools, retiring in 2002 after 32 years. He was awarded the Crystal Apple Award in 2002. Eric was a faithful and longtime member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He was also a lifetime member of Saginaw Field and Stream. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and bass fishing. Eric was a gifted woodworker and also made many beautiful custom fishing rods over the years. Above all, Eric loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and gift at storytelling, his kind and generous soul, and his attention to detail in all he did. Eric left his indelible mark in this world as priceless and profound educator to many.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Linda Lentner of Saginaw; two sons: Kurt (Jennifer) Lentner of Kalamazoo; Kristopher (Jamie) Lentner of Freeland; four grandchildren: Olivia, Kaleb, Parker, and Elise Lentner; two brothers and a sister, Dorothy (Jon) Luethjohann of Grand Ledge; Marvin Lentner (Shirley Schmidt) of Freeland; Earl Lentner Jr. of Saginaw; sister-in-law: Carol Marquardt of West Branch; brother-in-law, Delbert (Sharon) Luckett of Bridgeport. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law: Sue and Jacqueline Lentner; brother-in-law, Charles Marquardt; and in-laws: Delbert and Winnie Luckett.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Chesaning Union Court and Alara Hospice for all the care they provided to Eric and his family.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Road. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate. Honoring Eric's wishes, cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
