Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 30, 2022 at his home, with his family at his side, at the age of 44 years.

The son of Linda (Eggebrecht) Hodges, Erik was born on May 9, 1978 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1997. After graduation, Erik was able to gather his CDL for truck driving. He married Filicity R. Filipiak on June 16, 2001 in Merrill, Michigan; she survives him. He was a coach for various sports teams in the community. Erik enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, mowing the lawn, tinkering around, driving trucks and tractors. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness to everyone and was always lending a hand to anyone in need. Above all, Erik cherished the time spent with his family, especially with two of his brothers-in-law: Darrell Filipiak and Michael Filipiak.

Surviving besides his wife of nearly 21 years, Filicity R. Hodges; are their two sons: Erik Hodges, Jacob Hodges; his mother: Linda Hodges; his mother-in-law: “Maa”; two sisters and one brother: Amy Fahrenbruch, Elizabeth (Lamar) Scott, Adam (Amie) Hodges. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Erik was preceded in death by a very dear friend: Ross Cornejo.

Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw Road, Merrill, Michigan 48637. Rev. Don Killey will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
