Schneider, Ernest C. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away late Thursday, February 1, 2018, at his home, at the age of 85 years. He was born March 29, 1932, in Klacking Township, Ogemaw County, the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Schafer) Schneider. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in West Branch and received his Bachelor Degree and later his Master of Education Degree from Central Michigan University. He taught school for over 40 years, retiring from Saginaw Township Community Schools after 33 years of service. Ernest was the founder and president of Learning Success Center, which he ran for 47 years. He was an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, St. Stephen Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4232. He was a life-member of the Germania Town and Country Club. He enjoyed many outdoor and sports activities including gardening, fishing, boating, golfing and bowling. He was an avid Detroit sports fan. Ernie was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing piano for the residents and staff at St. Francis Home each Monday morning. He married Kay Leitow on August 4, 1956, enjoying over 61 years of marriage. Surviving besides his wife Kay are two sons: Thomas Schneider, Leslie, MI; David (Deborah) Schneider, Saginaw; four grandchildren: Joshua Schneider, Brittany (Matthew) Chase, Jason Schneider, and Natalie Schneider; two great-grandchildren: Delaney and Matthew Chase Jr.; three brothers and one sister: Gerald Schneider, Mary Mier McCarthy, Ronald (Penny) Schneider, and John (Paulette) Schneider; many nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rosemary (Mrs. Gerald) Schneider, Berle Mier, Patrick McCarthy, Jan (Mrs. John) Schneider, and Don and Helen Leitow. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at St. Dominic Catholic Parish, St. Stephen Church, 1310 Malzahn Street. Rev. Fr. William Taylor will officiate. Private committal services will take place later at St. Andrew Cemetery. A parish vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. Monday until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
