Ernest “Ernie” Daniel Engel of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 76 years old. Ernest Daniel Engel was born on August 19, 1945, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Ernest and Helen (Schnell) Engel. He was a 1962 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, he proudly attended Ferris State University where he studied diesel engineering. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Marie Pawlak, on September 9, 1978, in Saginaw; she survives him. Ernie was the owner/operator of Tri-City Chemical Inc., dedicating 56 years of loyal service to his customers and the entire community. Ernie was a faithful and lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church. He loved driving especially taking day trips with his wife around the community, within the state, or to other states. While driving, Ernie would tune the radio and listening to his favorite 1960s music. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams on television. Ernie left his indelible mark on this world through his determination, hard work ethic, and his success which encouraging everyone around him. He will forever be remembered for his meticulously detailed van, ability to connect and communicate with all people, and for truly living a remarkable life.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Lorraine M. Engel of Saginaw; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Gerald Gubody of Saginaw; Marge (Douglas) Dean of Auburn; Mary (Randall) Schaefer of Vancouver, BC; Beth Pawlak of Marquette; Sue (Ken) Nowak of Auburn; Anthony (Paula) Pawlak of Manchester, NH. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Gubody; brother-in-law, Paul Pawlak.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Street. Rev. Matt Hauser will officiate. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
