Ernestine Frost of Merrill, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 15, 2021. She was 96 years old. Ernestine Doehring was born on December 6, 1924, in Merrill, Michigan, to the late Henry and Lucy (Siegmund) Doehring. She was a proud graduate of Merrill High School. Ernestine married the love of her life, Kenneth J. Frost, on July 17, 1954, in Merrill, celebrating 63 years before he preceded her in death on January 13, 2018. She was a lifelong, faithful, and the eldest member of the Merrill Wesleyan Church. Ernestine and Kenneth enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Merrill Marmaladers. Affectionately known as “Meme” by her great-grandchildren, Ernestine loved and cherished spending time with all of her grandchildren, especially rocking them. Family was truly the foundation of her being. Over the years, she enjoyed camping trips, working on crossword puzzles, and reading. Ernestine will forever be remembered for her kindness, patience, and for loving all wholeheartedly.

Surviving are a daughter and son: Kim (Larry) Konyha of Dearborn Heights; Gary (Joann) Frost of Merrill; five grandchildren: Kevin (Cassandra) Konyha, David (Kelly) Starr, Kyle (Tobi) Frost, Ryan (Caitlyn) Frost, and Amanda (Mike) Budge; nine great-grandchildren: Avery Starr, Hudson Starr, Anthony Strouse, Danielle Gorsline, Elizabeth Frost, Callen Frost, Deacon Frost, Abigail Budge, and Charles Budge; sister, Iris Deming of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Carl Deohring, Bernard Doehring, Lowell (Lyla) Doehring.
