Wheeler, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Wellspring Lutheran Services. She was 90 years old. Ervidean “Erva” Louise Crosby was born on May 1, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Lynus Wilber and Esther (Bunting) Crosby. She married the love of her life, Clifford “Pete” Deforest Schneider on June 23, 1950, at Breckenridge Congregation Parsonage; he preceded her in death on October 25, 2020. Erva was the owner and operator of Pete’s Auto Sales for over 50 years. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, she and Pete enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas where they’d attend various shows and go to the casino. She civically served her community by volunteering on the Wheeler Township Board for over 10 years. A hard worker her entire life, when she wasn’t running the family business, Erva was either coordinating her own garage sales or exploring other people’s garage sales. She loved and adored her family, especially her grandchildren, treasuring and cherishing the countless memories they shared spending time at their summer home on the lake in Mecosta for a kid’s weekend.
Surviving are two sons: Daniel (Shirley) Schneider of WI and AZ; David Schneider of Wheeler; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rethea (Carl) Neuenfeldt of Hemlock; a brother, Fred (Joyce) Crosby of Freeland. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Schneider; her husband, Clifford Schneider, and her parents, Lynus and Esther Crosby.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48637. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Wheeler Township Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wellspring Hospice.
