Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away after a 15 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2021 at the age of 64 years. Esther was born on July 28, 1956 to the late Wesley and Donallee (Spencer) Voelker in Saginaw. She was in the first graduating class of Swan Valley High School, class of 1974. She continued her education at Delta College where she earned an Associate’s Degree as an Executive Secretary. On October 25, 1980 she married Melvin Turner in Saginaw.
Together Esther and Melvin bought Saginaw Marina on December 12, 1985. She has been an owner and office manager for almost 40 years. They still own the business today. Esther was a member of First Free Methodist Church for many years; there she enjoyed visiting with other church members, she especially loved Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout leader for her three girls; she enjoyed crafting, crocheting and thrift shopping. Above all Esther loved being a mother, she cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Melvin Turner, her three daughters: Carrie (Chad) Toth, Jennifer (Patrick Maner) Turner, Melanie (Sonny Perez) Turner and grand children: Seth Toth, Logan Toth, Evan Toth, Tru Toth and Melayah Perez. Esther is also survived by her sister Mary (Ron) Fischer and her brother- in- law Bill Almy.
She was predeceased by her siblings Wilma Almy and Leora (Mike) Roberts.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, April 26, 2021 at First Free Methodist Church (2625 North Center Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603). Pastor Jason Evans will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until the time of the service at church.
