Ethel Ida Hoffman

Passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Edgewood Assisted Living. Age 85 years. Ethel Ida was born May 12, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of the late Ethel I. (Coash) Lyness. She married Gerald Robert Hoffman, December 12, 1956. Her husband of 44 years passed away January 24, 2000. Ethel Ida graduated from St. Peter and Paul School and earned her bachelor and master’s degrees from Central Michigan University. She taught Kindergarten in the Hemlock Public Schools, retiring with 29 years of service. She was an active volunteer in the community and served as an Advocate and Arbitrator for Saginaw County Circuit Court. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish, St. Peter and Paul Church. She enjoyed skiing and was a member of the National Ski Patrol for many years at Snow Snake in Harrison, MI. She loved to travel with her sister-in-law, Lenny Hoffman, and had been to many countries.
Surviving are three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Catherine Hoffman Lopes and her husband, Jerry; Willington, Conn; Cynthia Plum, Cape Coral Florida; Robert K. Hoffman, Saginaw.; Christopher and Debbie Hoffman, Freeland, MI; Diane Ray and Randy Conaway, Saginaw; 14 grandchildren, Aaron, Gabriel and Zachary Lopes; Kristi and Josh Plum; Jamie and Jacob Hoffman; Jessica and Taylor Ray; Stephanie Belknap; Katelyn Martell; Kaitlin and Ben Wood; and Krista Conaway; four great grandchildren, Ezrah and Elyjah Bright, Euria Boies; and Athens Wood; several nieces and nephews. Her brother-in-law, Roger Hoffman, and her mother-in-law, Doris Hoffman, have predeceased her.
The funeral liturgy will take place at Noon, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Dominic Parish, St. Peter and Paul Church, 4735 West Michigan Ave. Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Steve Gavit will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with family at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, where a Vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friends may then visit at the Church from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
