Ethel L. Seeger Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Macomb, Illinois Went home to the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the age of 98 years. Ethel was born February 9, 1918, on a farm near Macomb, Illinois to the late George and Alta (Hankins) Murfin. She graduated from High School in 1936 and took classes so she could pursue a career. She started working for the McDonough County Agriculture office and stayed for 13 years. She married James Seeger on June 21, 1942. She briefly became a stay-at-home Mom but returned to the work force when her son turned 11. She enjoyed raising her son and had a wonderful marriage. She worked for the YMCA in Galesburg, Illinois as a bookkeeper and retired after 19 years. When she and her husband both retired they continued to live in Oquawka, Illinois. When he passed away on August 14, 1997, she moved to Indiana and finally settled in Saginaw. She loved beautiful trees, flowers, ice cream, and people. She enjoyed collecting stamps, post cards, and coins. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ted and Sally Seeger; grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Seeger, Mary (Michael) Fletcher, and Brian (Amanda) Seeger; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Robert. The family would like to thank the staff of Luther Manor and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided to Ethel. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. J. Jay Williamson will officiate. She will be buried at a later dated in Macomb, Illinois. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
