Eugene John Schroeder

Eugene John Schroeder Bridgeport, Michigan Loving husband and father passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, after a brief illness. Age 85 years. The youngest son of the late Harold and Ella (Kuchinsky) Schroeder was born August 28, 1929 in Bridgeport, Michigan where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1947, then joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Following his discharge, he worked on the family farm. He married Irene H. Sak, June 17, 1950. His wife of 64 years survives him. After farming, Eugene, worked at McCorkle Oil Company and Anderson Concrete and retired as a driver for ANR Freight Company. He was a long-time member of Bridgeport Community church where he joyfully volunteered his time with many church activities. He loved providing his homemade peanut brittle and bread for the yearly bazaar. Playing cards on Tuesday nights at the church was a highlight of his week. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Bridgeport Lodge #258 F & AM. Surviving besides his wife, Irene, are a daughter, Patricia, Cadillac, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, and a daughter, Susan, in 1999; his brothers, Harold Jr. and Kenneth, as well as a sister, Arlene. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, along with many friends. A celebration of life service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015, at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St. Bridgeport, MI. Rev. Ron Sinclair will officiate with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy. Bridgeport, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday where the Bridgeport Lodge #258 F& AM. will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friends and family may then call on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
