Eugene Edward Santhany of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 81. Eugene was born on March 25, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan to Emmagene (Parker) Santhany and William Santhany. He attended Arthur Hill Tech School. Eugene worked for General Motors as a millwright at their Saginaw and Lansing plants. He retired from the Grey Iron plant in Saginaw, Michigan, in 2002. Eugene married the love of his life, Karen (Dennis) Santhany on August 20, 1966; they spent many years together traveling, playing golf, and spending summer's up north at their trailer. He had a passion for trains and classic cars.
Eugene is survived by his only son, Kirk (Charmin) Santhany of Holland; granddaughter, Kalie (Gabriel) Van Kirk of Holland; great-grandson, Logan Van Kirk of Holland; a sister, Marcia (John) Doyle of Saginaw; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Swick of Caro; Evelyn Gibbs of Saginaw; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Gail) Dennis of Caro; Bernard Dennis of Caro. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Santhany, a granddaughter, Kelsie Santhany; parents, William and Emmagene Santhany; a brother, Ron Santhany; and a niece, Amanda Lynn Soltis.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Appledorn Living Center of Holland and Corewell Hospice of Grand Rapids for all the love and care they provided to Eugene and the family.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw, Michigan, 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw, MI, 48609, on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
