Passed away with his family by his side on Monday, March 2, 2015, age 89 years. Eugene was born on August 23, 1925, son of the late Walter and Linda (Schomaker) Hamlin, in Saginaw. He married Betty Miller October 5, 1946, she predeceased him. Eugene served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, finding deals at flea markets, fixing things and most of all, caring for and spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Michael (Carolyn) Hamlin; his daughter, Bernie Thoms; six grandchildren, Michael Hamlin, Jr., Kristi Thoms, Justin Thoms, Brian Webster, Gina (Chris) Wegner and Lori (Eric) Meylan; four great grandchildren and other special relatives and friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Gail Webster, his brother, Mel Hamlin and his sister, Arlone Robishaw. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate with burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of V.F.W. Post # 1859. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
