Passed away after a lingering illness on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Cartwright Center. He was 71 years of age.
Francis Robert Sugar was born March 7, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant to the late Louis and Mary (Clare) Sugar. He married Kathleen Roach on November 7, 1967, and she survives him. Bob was employed by the Saginaw Township Police Department, retiring in 2001 after 31 years of service. He was the charter boat captain of the 30' "Sugar Bear", and oversaw many salmon fishing excursions out of Oscoda. An avid fisherman, hunter and snowmobiler, Bob loved spending time at his property in the Upper Peninsula.
In addition to his spouse, Bob is survived by: two daughters, Antoinette Denby and Mary (Matthew) Jacobs; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Matthew, and Kathryn; three brothers and a sister, Larry Sugar, Tom Sugar, Ken Sugar, and Nancy Burlingame; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John and his sister Patricia.
Pursuant to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw, Merrill, Michigan.
