Polson, Florence Emily East Tawas, MI formerly of Saginaw Passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2014, at Tawas Village, East Tawas, Michigan. Florence was born November 14, 1917, in the little town of McGregor, located in the Thumb of Michigan. Florence graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw. She then began a long and successful career in retail that started at Cunningham's Drug Store in Saginaw and ended as the manager of Anderson's Book and Card Shop stores both of Saginaw. She and her husband, who was the Assessor for the City of Saginaw, retired to East Tawas in the mid 70's. She continued to practice her retail management skills by volunteering to manage the gift shop in St. Joseph's Hospital, a position she devoted much of her time to over the years. She also did volunteer work at the Tawas Historical Museum and was an active member of the Tawas United Methodist Church. She is survived and loved very much by her brother, John "Jack" (Mary Lou) Tarrant of Bellaire; nieces, Norma (Gary) Poulos, Susan (Thomas) Moffett, Patricia (Jeffrey) Hallberg, and Jacqueline Tarrant; and her nephew Wayne Diveley. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Robert H. Polson; parents, William and Blanche (Griffith) Tarrant; siblings, Ellsworth, William Jr., and Arline (Paul) Diveley. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Dan Gonder of Tawas United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
