Frances M. "Fran" Coughlin

Frances M. "Fran" Coughlin Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at St. Francis Home with her family by her side, at the age of 84 years. Fran was born February 8, 1931, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Carl and Burnetta (Nentwig) Pohlman. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1949. Fran married John E. Coughlin on October 6, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he predeceased her April 8, 2000. She was a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and current member of St. Dominic Catholic Church (St. Stephen). Fran sang and played the National Anthem for the Saginaw Gears, from their inception in 1972 until the team disbanded in 1983. Fran and John were true fans of the Gears and loved having many of the Gears players at their home for home cooked meals. They also enjoyed the Blue Line Club and Friday night pizza at the Royal Palm Restaurant. Fran was also employed by Case Funeral Home as an organist and vocalist for over 30 years. One of her favorite past times was to make her famous baked spaghetti for her friends and co-workers at Case's. Fran played the organ and piano for numerous churches in the Saginaw area. She most enjoyed the many weddings she played and sang for. She was a dedicated volunteer for many years at St. Mary's Hospital in their gift shop. Above all, she dearly loved her grandchildren, shopping, and eating out with her family and friends. Fran's family wish to thank all the employees of St. Francis Home. We will be forever grateful for the love and compassion shown to our mother. She is survived by her children, Christine (Dennis) Smigiel of Saginaw, Mary (Russ) Bostwick of Virginia Beach, VA, Monica (David) Seidenzahl of Wauconda, IL, Maureen (Benjamin) Burk of Saginaw, and Shawn (Jenean) Coughlin of Saginaw; grandchildren, Christy, Ryan, Kelli, Ashley, Rachel, Jonathan, Jason, Carlee, Benjamin, Bryce; 4 great-grandchildren, Gibson, Oakleigh, Trey and Harper; her brothers, Carl (Joanne) Pohlman, Peter (Judy) Pohlman, and Michael (Susan) Pohlman; many nieces and nephews; and her very close friend Shirley Cole.
