Beloved father, grandfather and father-in-law Frank Flores Sr, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 11, 2020. Frank was 75 years old. Frank retired from GM Saginaw Malleable Iron Central Foundry in 2000. Frank was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 18, 1944.
Frank enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Frank was a Lay Minister for the Catholic Church and loved sharing his faith. He was a leader in the Charismatic Movement at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also attended Greater Dimensions Church.
Frank was married to the love of his life Velia Garcia on October 20, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for 45 years before she preceded him on April 3, 2008. Frank met Velia in San Antonio Texas at Brackenridge Park. He said she was the most beautiful woman he ever saw and was taken back that she was wearing high heels as she walked through the park.
Frank leaves behind three daughters and one son. Debbie (Gordon) Cortez, Sandy (Alberto) Ortiz, Linda (Michael) Looby and Frank (Felisita) Flores Jr. Frank also leaves behind 10 grandchildren to cherish his memory: Luisa Flores, Albert (Kaela) Jimenez III, Jacob, Madison and Peyton Looby, Zachary Cruz, Velia Frankie Flores, Angel, Senaya, Felisita (Ninia). Frank was blessed to have been able to hold his first great grandson Arlo Roberto Jimenez.
Frank also leaves behind his sister-in-law Mary Frances (Jose) Cabello, his Uncle Henry Flores, San Antonio Texas, his Aunt Gloria Rodriquez also of San Antonio Texas. Many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Velia G. Flores, his mother Maria Luisa Flores, a sister Yolanda Flores. His in-laws Juan and Maria Garcia and two brothers-in-law Jesse Garcia and John Garcia Jr.
The family would also like to thank Melissa Bargas that assisted and provided excellent care to Frank.
A private graveside service will take place on Friday May 15, 2020 at St Andrew Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, O.F.M. Cap will officiate. A memorial mass will be held later, please check back for updated information. In accordance with State mandated ordinances, the limitations of the number gathered, and safe distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
