Franklin James Bruce

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on August 24, 2020 at the age of 85. Franklin was born on October 29, 1934 to the late Emil and Juanita (Loveless) Bruce in Marquette County, Michigan. He was a graduate of Gwinn High School and earned an associate’s degree from Elkhart University in Indiana. He served our country from 1954 to 1958 in the United States Air Force. He later married Catherine Wojciechowski on August 4, 1962 in Bay City, Michigan. They just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

Franklin is a member of the American Legion, Post 115. He worked for Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital for 26 years, retiring in 1986. Franklin enjoyed golfing, gardening and old country music. According to his family, he always had some type of project going. Above all, Franklin cherished time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Catherine and their three children; James (Karen) Bruce, Todd Bruce and Kristin (Michael) Klug. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Melissa (Eric) Jastram, Kaitlyn Bruce, Kindsay Bruce, Ryan Bruce, Connor Klug, Aidan Klug and great grandchildren Carter and Mason Jastram. Also surviving Franklin are his siblings Joan Bruce and Mary Louise Bosetti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including a special niece Tracy Gee.

Franklin was predeceased by his siblings; Roger Bruce, Dean Bruce, Bradley Bruce, Warren Bruce, Wesley Bruce, Deborah Bruce and Ingrid Kasbergerg.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the family has elected to have a private family service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to American Legion Post 115 (Escanaba River Post 115, Ed Gregson, 9583 County Road SM, Cornell, MI, 49818) or Lansing MEPS Freedom Center (120 E. Jolly Road, Lansing, Michigan, 48910). The family would like to extend a thank you to Covenant VNA Hospice for the love and care they gave to Franklin.
