Freddie (Fred) Mark Kruth, age 65, passed away early Wednesday morning at his home following a decade-long battle with liver cancer. Fred is survived by his wife, Irene (Diener) Kruth, son, Cash, and daughter-in-law, Stacy (Gates) Kruth; brothers Duane (Sandee) Kruth and Mark Kruth; mother-in-law Maxine Diener; brothers- and sisters-in-law Dennis and Diane Kuehn, Danny and Martha Diener, and Rick and Carol Reinbold; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Margaret (Rohn) Kruth; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Larry Van Liew; nephew Paul Kruth; and brother-in-law Gene Diener.
Fred was born on November 15, 1955, in Saginaw and graduated from Hemlock High School in 1973. He married the former Irene Diener on September 10, 1977. Fred retired from AT&T in 2011 after 35 years. Fred was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed reading, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping throughout the summer, including annual trips to Higgins Lake with family, and camping and exploring other places up north. He also was an active member of the Hemlock/Merrill VFW Post 7302 Auxiliary. Fred was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock before transferring to Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock. At Zion, he was an active member on numerous boards, serving as president of the congregation several times, and was also a longtime member of the choir.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at noon on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Rd., in Hemlock. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate with burial in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and family are invited for visitation at the church before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Mid-Michigan Hospice for their help during this time.
