Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home at the age of 88 years. He was born February 16, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Fred and Helen Ostler. Fred graduated from Saginaw High School and attended Bay City Junior College and Michigan State University. He served in World War II as a Special Duty PFC Personal Honor Guard to General Douglas MacArthur. He married June Ann Sawatzki on June 28, 1952 and she survives him. He retired from Diesel Truck Sales of Saginaw after 46 years of service. Fred was a member and past Chairman of the Tri-City Chapter of Equipment and Maintenance Division of the Michigan Trucking Association for over 50 years and was designated a Life Time Member. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides his wife, June, are three sons and their spouses, Dennis and Soula Ostler, David and Patti Ostler and Tim and Julie Ostler, all of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Matthew Ostler, Jacob Ostler, Kayla Ostler and Kevin Ostler; one great-granddaughter, Gwen Ostler; his brother James (Barbara) Ostler; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 121 Harrison. Rev. Ted McCullough will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., from 2:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. They may then visit at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
